For as long as I can remember, public libraries have been magical places for me. The smell of old books, the quiet surroundings and the rows upon rows of authors just waiting for me to hold their hard work in my hands...all of these things make me swoon. So, it's no wonder that card catalogs hold a soft spot in my heart. This, like hundreds of others, is one thing I wish we could go back to. Forget the computers and their quick and instantaneous information. Give me a few minutes with one of these beauties as I run my fingers over the manila colored cards within and my dear friend, Dewey and his decimals, and life would be infinitely better in my eyes. Some day, I'll be lucky enough to come across an old dusty card catalog in the back of a small town thrift shop with a bargain barrel price of $4.00, but until then I just drool over other people's luck.
Follow the link below to see how an old and tattered piece was transformed into this gem and then come back and let me know what you think!

Its amazing what you can do when you reuse, refinish, repurpose! A new treasure to love, a feeling of satisfaction that you did it yourselves and the dump has one less item labeled "garbage". Win-win!
I so agree with you! There is always such a sense of excitement for me when I stumble upon something that I know, with just a little bit of love, can transform into something beautiful. Good to know you're a kindred spirit, Rosanne! Have a wonderful afternoon. :)
I love transforming discarded pieces and have always had a thing for pieces with lots of little drawers. This card catalog almost has me hyperventilating! :)
