Just Plain Fun!

What a fun space this is! So fresh and clean looking with just the right pop of color.
I love the fact that the majority of the space is a shade of white and is just accented with bold, springy colors. The large circles on the wall were simply painted on using a pizza box for the template.
You can see below how it was done!
Great job, Shoshana!

Simple white grommet panels soften the windows and the shades of brown in the coffee table and the woven blind ground the space in just the right way.

So, she just took the pizza box and opened it up flat. Super hard. ;) Measure the height and width of the walls and decide how many circles you can fit...this will determine the size of the circle.

Self-explanatory. Just make two circles to create the inner and outer portion of it and cut it out.

It'll look like this. Time to paint your walls the lightest color first.

Start at the top left corner of the wall and start to mark off where the circles will go with pencil and then tape.

Trace the circles on the wall with pencil.

Begin to carefully paint the edges with an artists brush with the darker color.

Fill in the circles.

And Voila! What a statement wall.
If you're budget is tight and you can't afford fabulous furniture and accessories,
a painted pattern on the wall is a perfect choice for you!

Sidenote: Sopapilla Cheesecake Pie
So, you know when people tell you they made this recipe and that it was so good and soooooo easy and then you make the darn thing and it was so not easy? K. Well, I made this dessert last night and it was not only yummy beyond belief, but it was seriously the easiest thing ever. If you need something to take to a potluck or to a get together...this is it. Make sure to chill it for a while...but, having said that, I didn't and only let it come to room temp and it was still the bomb.
I asked my husband to score it from 1-10 and he said, "8.5....no, a 9!".
To which I asked, "Is that graded based on all the desserts on the planet or just those I make at home?"
He pondered that and replied, "All of them."
Huh, well, what do ya know? He loved it.
I will be more realistic...to me it was a 7.5 or 8...super yummy...but, I have had some killer desserts.
Raspberry gelato in a warm, freshly made cone in greece that made my toes curl.
A 13 layer pastry in Paris that made me swoon with delight.
My mama's coconut cake.
But, this stuff will stay in my repetoire
and I'm really looking forward to having a piece with my hot tea this afternoon!

Color Splash!

It sure is dreary out today here in the good ol' QCA! So I went on the hunt for a few inspiration pics that are full of color and sure to brighten up any weather forecast.
Be brave and trust your instincts! That's what this sofa is shouting at me and I'm all ears! What's my deal lately with turquoise, by the way? I may need an intervention rather soon to help me with this obsession.

I wish I knew where I found this pic. I'm sure it's staged for a photo shoot or is in retail shop, so you have to look at it with different eyes as it's not meant for actual living. But the vibe is infectious and the color palette sublime. I can't believe how much I'm digging that canary yellow...the key is to keep the palette tight and wow...that silhouette is just spot on.

Pretty in pink! And pale yellow and creamy whites! That pink ribbon trim around the ottoman really pulls it all together. Really fun and fresh.

Though this space falls just a bit flat for some reason...I'm still really liking a few of the choices. As always, I'm a big fan of the conversation area done "in the round" and this ottoman is the perfect scale for just such a purpose. I also love the simple banded drapes and the bold orange.

Speechless.

My Red and Turquoise Obsession

This color combination is so rich and spicy I just want to bite it! I wish I knew who the designer on this was because I would love to give some props, but before I even thought of blogging, I fell in love with this pic and saved it to my inspiration file. Dear Lord! I love that velvet chair against the burnt red grass cloth wallpaper...and be still my heart...that trim on the drapes is enough to make me wanna do the cabbage patch! Simply Brilliant!!!

Vintage chair transformed with turquoise paint and Duralee fabric. My client loves them! Now, I just need to get pics of them in place rather than in our back storage room...pic bad, chair great!
