Perfectly Peacock

Shot this cheeky peacock in Punta Cana.

If ever there was a space I'm obsessed with, this is certainly one of the top contenders. The peacock mirror makes me clench my teeth because my brain can't seem to handle how great it is. The table cover...to die for. The sideboard...casual and looks like it could have been found while on holiday in Bali. Oh, and I'm a sucker for a good cloche. Where are my "I dream of Jeannie" powers when you need them...or a good bank to rob. Wisteria

Vintage chic meets collected eclectic...I could live here.

Oh. My. God. Becky. Look. At. This. Rug.
30" diameter and only $25.00 from Urban Outfitters!!!! Steal!

Z Gallerie deos it again!
Witty and obnoxious, I kinda love these.

I saw and nearly bought the most amazing peacock fireplace screen at an antique store several years ago, but decided against it. I've kicked myself ever since. This one I found at Walmart, yes Walmart, of all places and I think it's kinda fun. You?

Speaking of Walmart and on a totally unrelated topic, I picked this up there the other day for $5.00! If only there were an Anthropologie here to Bohemian it up!

My Red and Turquoise Obsession

This color combination is so rich and spicy I just want to bite it! I wish I knew who the designer on this was because I would love to give some props, but before I even thought of blogging, I fell in love with this pic and saved it to my inspiration file. Dear Lord! I love that velvet chair against the burnt red grass cloth wallpaper...and be still my heart...that trim on the drapes is enough to make me wanna do the cabbage patch! Simply Brilliant!!!

Vintage chair transformed with turquoise paint and Duralee fabric. My client loves them! Now, I just need to get pics of them in place rather than in our back storage room...pic bad, chair great!

JU JU CAMEROON HATS

It's been 7 years now since I first saw one of these Cameroon headdresses displayed on a wall in an "oh so chic" home in Elle Decor. Having no clue what in the world it was that I was looking at, but having a hard time keeping my mouth closed as it kept saying, "Wow. That's Incredible!", it took me days to track down the source and find out it was a hand-made feather headdress from Cameroon, Africa.
The image and the idea of acquiring one of these beauties have never left me and though I've found some available here and there online, they are quite pricey and I am quite...erm...fine, let's just say it, broke. Ok. Not, broke, like wondering where our next meal will come from, but broke as in I probably could buy one if I chose to only pay the minimum payment on my credit card this month and gave up my Starbuck's for the year. So, in lieu of such extreme sacrifices, I've dropped the hint to my lovely husband at least five times, but I'm fairly sure that the only Ju Ju he remembers is the gummy candy. Oh well. I continue to love them and know now, after all these years, that for me it's not just a passing fancy...it's
 lasting love.
I'm sure some will say that at this point they're passe, but I'm not one of those people. And like Billy Baldwin says, "Be faithful to your own taste because nothing you really like is ever out of style." Brilliant.

Best. Compliment. Ever.

Soooo, today I ran into a client that I haven't seen in quite some time. We had completed the redesign of her library and master bedroom a couple of years ago and since then she has referred several people to me...which is, as you know, most often the best compliment one can receive. After the usual pleasantries, she informed me her husband found out recently he has to go in for a bypass surgery on his heart. I was concerned for them both and said sincerely that I would pray for them and hope the surgery goes well. To which she responded, "Well, Jennifer, if the surgeon is as good at his job as you are at yours every thing's going to go great." Well, she shut me up with that one. Not good with compliments in general, I had just been given the most generous one of my life. I'm pretty sure it's all downhill from here.

Memories of Greece

I was lucky enough to take the trip of a lifetime with my beautiful mother last month. She treated me to a Greek Vacation to help celebrate an upcoming big birthday and after the initial guilt of her taking me and not vice versa, I got over myself and off we went. During our two weeks we visited Athens, of course, Santorini, a must, and then drove on down to the Peloponnese Island and stayed in Nafplio and Monemvasia. Every place we went, every hotel we stayed in and every person we came in contact with were lovely beyond words. The memories we created were simply priceless and the following images are so dear to me. I hope you enjoy them and feel inspired by the beauty of the things you see. Have a wonderful day!

My Favorite Time of Year!

Ahhh...the first signs of Autumn are here! The leaves are changing and finally there is a crispness to the air calling for a night in with the fireplace lit and the smells of something wonderful slowly becoming our dinner. I decided I would, for the first time, attempt bouef bourguinon so having gone to the grocer to get all the ingredients and following Julia Child's recipe line by line...I must say the smells are making my belly grumble and if judged by the spoonful I just tasted...it's going to be divine. A nice, crusty baguette from Schnuck's...no local bakery :(...will soon be dipped and dunked into this big pot of heaven. I think I'll make a salad with greens, pears, candied walnuts and a bit of Roquefort in a honey/balsalmic vinaigrette mixed in. My mouth is watering...in case yours is too and you want to try this one out for yourself. It actually wasn't a bit hard to make and it was sublime!

Here's the link for the recipe!
